Why Choose An Intern?

What is an Intern?

An intern is a person who is in the final step in the licensure process before getting their full license to practice Marriage and Family Therapy in the state of Michigan. They have graduated from an accredited Master's program and are now fulfilling the required number of clinical hours needed to sit for the State exam for full licensure.

At FUNLife, interns are under the supervision of Jan Talen, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for 20 years. They meet individually with clients (just you and the intern in the room) and they have access to Jan for regular supervision time and for consultation on an as needed so that the therapy progresses well.

Why Choose an Intern?

The interns are fresh out of school: full of new, up-to-date, good ideas, good energy and excited to be at work. Their case load is often small (2-10 clients per week) giving them more flexible scheduling hours. There is a cost benefit to this arrangement for you, the client, because you get both the intern and the supervising therapist’s input into your therapy process while paying the intern’s rate. Working with an intern is often a wise and good way to get the assistance and encouragement you need to return the FUN into your LIFE again.
